Dev Log #8 | Behind the Creation of PvE Story Challenge
Today marks the release of the highly anticipated Krypotmon's PvE Story Challenge game mode and we are beyond excited for you to dive in and explore it.
As 2022 came to an end, so did our beloved comic series, Eva’s Journey. Interested in getting to know what happens next? What’s the future of Kryptomon Komics?
It's time to talk tokens! This week, we announced that the Kryptomon Marketplace will be transitioning from Binance Coin (BNB) to our native token, $KMON.
Hey nerd, It feels weird, writing this with everything that’s happened. But we’ve been trading these emails back and forth for so long that it’s practically a habit.
“Sigh… I wonder how Eva’s doing” I mused as I scanned the code on the screen directly in front of me.

Koa’s Lab, 1:03 am
“Sigh… I wonder how Eva’s doing” I mused as I scanned the code on the screen directly in front of me. It was exactly what I needed, a long, seemingly complex piece of code filled with enough math and variables that made it look as if it were solving something important.
Saving it away in the presentation folder, I smiled ruefully at what life as the foremost Kryptomon scientist had become. “Father of Kryptomon” or not, the lab still needed money to keep open and someone had to pay Dr Wang and the others their salary. The pink serum was proving difficult to synthesize but the bigwigs at the bank never needed to know that the code simply played through a million rounds of Monopoly to determine the best method of winning the game.
“I hope she’s doing okay.” I sighed to myself. It was a risky move sending her alone to Africa, but someone needed to be here, holding up the lab and continuing the search for Embie. Besides, if anyone could charm her way into learning the secrets of Kekayaan village, it would be Eva. She always had a way with people, even in the days when we were in university together…
University of Tor Vergata, several years in the past
“You know some girls in the class think you’re a little bit of a nerd right?” Eva laughed, interrupting me mid sentence as I tried to explain the amount of trouble I had to go to in order to unlock The Magus Sisters in Final Fantasy X.
“Where’d that come from all of a sudden?” I spluttered while looking around, expecting to see the girls in question that prompted the random comment.
It was unlikely, but that didn’t stop me from taking a look. We had just spent the last hour in the university cafeteria working on the tutorial that Eva had gotten from her Anthropology elective and there was not a soul in sight, with it already being 11pm.
“Nowhere! It’s just that while I might think its impressive you know the button codes to spawn a tank in GTA by heart, not every girl might think so.” Eva replied. “There are some cute girls in my class, and if you put on a nice shirt every once in a while like when you graduated and stopped dressing like someone who only owns three shirts, one of them might even say yes to a date.”
I sighed. Eva had been trying to set me up on dates ever since she found out I’ve never had a girlfriend, and with her being the social butterfly of the cohort, she had plenty of single friends to recommend.
“You know I’m just not interested at the moment.” I said, leaning back into my chair. “This job as a Teaching Assistant and my own research with the Keystone Bank keeps me busy enough as it is. I don’t think I’d have the time to be dating and getting into a relationship.”
“But not too busy to spend the entire night grinding to get The Magus Sisters?” Eva shot back, rolling her eyes in mock desperation.
I grinned. We definitely made for an odd duo, walking back to the university dorms together. We ran in very different social circles, and it was largely due to Eva’s fascination with RPGs that brought us together. She proudly revealed that she once dabbled in speedrunning and we’ve been fast friends ever since.
“I didn’t hear you complaining when I was power levelling you in MapleStory.” flicking her on the forehead. “Now how about you worry less about me and more about how you’re going to pass this elective? I saw you dozing off when Professor Brown was showing off the vase today.”
“Oh come on! That boring old thing?”
“That *boring* old thing was thousands of years old! He must have called in some serious favors to have been allowed to bring it in to class. I guarantee it’s going to be on the exam…”
Hey nerd, I briefly considered starting this with “Dear Professor Koa”, but that just didn’t seem right.

Hey nerd,
I briefly considered starting this with “Dear Professor Koa”, but that just didn’t seem right. Just because people are now calling you the “Father of Kryptomon” doesn’t change the fact that I used to have to bail you out of trouble whenever those kids started beating you up.
A 4000 Year Old Mystery
Anyways, there’s something you should see. Fyllo and I were called in to support a team of archeologists who’ve been working in the nearby area, one of the lesser known ruins near the red ruins of Knossos Palace. Apparently they found something new, some writing and decorative etchings on a wall that they swear weren’t there before.
I can’t be sure till we do more checks, but it’s no wonder I was called in. We’ve either finally found the mythical Minotaur labyrinths of legend or the first clue that Kryptomons aren’t exactly new to Earth. I’ll keep you posted, but you and Lise might want to move up your trip to Greece.
Lise, the Flower of My Heart
Speaking of Lise, did she… say anything about me? I did send flowers last week but I never heard back. You’d tell me if she just threw them out wouldn’t you?
It took me ages to find the right ones! I didn’t even go hunting for eggs last week during the full moon because I was busy searching for the Hydrangeas she said she liked. I just remember seeing people flocking around in droves trying to find Kryptomon eggs. Did you ever come up with a theory as to why Kryptomon eggs seem to pop up whenever there’s a full moon?
Either way, the other guys in the lab have started calling it a monthly “treasure hunt”. I’ll be joining them tomorrow to make sure we save as many Kryptomon eggs as possible!
Fyllo… But Bigger
I just know that you’re going to geek out about this, but it looks like your theory on Kryptomons aging in a vastly different manner from us humans is right on the money. It makes sense, since these little things seem to be able to do all the things we used to think only the Greek Gods like Zeus and Poseidon could. Control the weather, summon the earth and fire… Heck, if these guys weren’t so damned cute, we might have been a little more apprehensive.
Fyllo says hi. Here’s a picture of him and you might have noticed that he’s gotten a little bit bigger. A whole lot bigger, and all of a sudden as well. I went to bed one night with the tiny guy and woke up to this the next day.
Not going to lie, I was a little afraid at first. But besides the size, nothing else has changed. He seems like the same Fyllo I used to have to carry around on my shoulders. No idea how that happened but I know you’ll figure it out. And before you ask, yes, I’ve already uploaded a copy of the DNA test to the server, you should already have access.
That’s about it I think. Been a lot going on with the archeologists and Fyllo’s random growth spurt. I’ve also taken up boxing, good way to get me off the chair and doing some exercise. We aren’t as young as we used to be you know? Can’t be stuffing our faces with pizza anymore and thinking we’ll still have abs the next day. You should think about doing the same instead of being stuck in that lab everyday.
Right. I’m off! See ya nerd.
Kyros
And hey, we’re going to find Embie. I’ve got my eyes peeled out here in Greece and have been talking to the other guys as well. He’ll turn up eventually.
Chin up!

It’s 3:00am. Just another night. It’s not new to me. This whole month has been chasing money into late nights and dealing with charlatans. Not quite the work I was expecting when they gave me vice chief of Keystone Investments… Tonight is different, though. I figured I would be pushing paper and snobbing around conference rooms, but here I am, saving the day, I guess! This has been my first moment to think since the explosion, so here goes:
I’ve known since the eclipse how dangerous the Kryptomon can be, but this project in Kekayaan is no normal research. Whatever Diabaté was doing to those Kryptomon is a lot more dangerous than the usual punk snatching Wild Kryptomon from dumpster alleys. But I guess the goal is the same: Kryptomon Research, or whatever. And they told me it was just a covert inspection — -just more routine surveillance. Am I the only one in the company who has seen the Dark Kryptomon? Does dad know about Diabaté? Does he know Eva was here? Should I tell him?
This wouldn’t be the first time he’s handed me a lit bomb. It was the same when he gave the family our baby Kryptomon. Not exactly Christmas morning, presents under the tree. The Kryptomon came with a sealed letter: instructions. “This is an investment,” he said. “Just have fun with it!”
…
This Eva woman has outdone herself. She blew the whole thing up. Scientists love to blow things up. Who would’ve guessed Koa would be so upset to lose a little money? Hypocritical bastards. But whatever. Eva did something to Diabaté’s Kryptomon, some kind of healing… I’ve never seen anything like it. Clearly Koa’s research is more interesting than we first thought.
And now I’ve saved her life. She’s stable but sleeping. I can only imagine she knew what Diabaté was doing and came to stop it. I guess I need to keep an eye on her, but now it feels like I need to sell her something, like I can’t get out of my dumbass M.B.A. mentality. If Keystone has taught me anything, though, it’s that I have to throw Diabaté under the bus. Way under.
Ain’t I lucky? The first quiet moment after dealing with the jet and the nurses and all of it, and she’s already starting to wake. She better help me clean up this mess. This feels like a hangover, just picking up beer cans from the sticky floor. College all over again.

Kryptomon is excited to announce the official integration of Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on the BNB Chain mainnet. By integrating the industry-leading decentralized oracle network, Kryptomon has leveraged a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness that helps guarantee an unbiased selection of winners in its weekly lucky draw. Ultimately this creates a more exciting and transparent user experience, as users can rest easy knowing that Chainlink VRF helps ensure each user has a fair chance in the lucky draws.
Often described as “the living NFT game” where the best of Pokemon meets Tamagotchi, Kryptomon has taken the blockchain gaming space by storm with its consistent output of quality content as well as its powerful collaborations and partnerships. From the monthly “Walk-To-Earn” mobile Treasure Hunt events to its recently launched NFT Breeding and P&E Questing update, it’s no wonder that the Kyptomon community is seeing a surge in growth.
However, the Kryptomon team has made no secret of its vision to allow for any gamer to become a Kryptomon trainer. This is in part accomplished by its weekly lucky draws, where winners can walk away with in-game items and, if they’re really lucky, their very own Kryptomon egg.
In order to help ensure winners are truly chosen at random, access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit is required. However, RNG solutions for smart contracts require several security considerations to prevent manipulation and ensure system integrity. For instance, RNG solutions derived from blockchain data like block hashes can be exploited by miners/validators, while off-chain RNG solutions derived from off-chain APIs are opaque and don’t provide users with definitive proof about the integrity of the process.
Enter Chainlink VRF. Because it is based on cutting-edge academic research, supported by a time-tested oracle network, and secured through the generation and on-chain verification of cryptographic proofs that prove the integrity of each random number supplied to smart contracts, it is little wonder that the Kryptomon team chose Chainlink VRF as its preferred RNG.
Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Kryptomon smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This provides users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain that the selection of Kryptomon lucky draw winners is provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the Kryptomon team.
With the new Chainlink VRF integration in place, Kryptomon expects to continue exploring opportunities that leverage other trust-minimized services from Chainlink for enhanced functionality, including the potential to automate the lucky draw using Chainlink Keepers — a hyper-reliable smart contract automation service.
“Chainlink VRF helps create a level playing field for Kryptomon’s lucky draws, which is something that is important both to our team and also our rapidly growing community. Anyone can verify the on-chain randomness to independently check that lucky draws were fair, and this level of transparency is simply unparalleled in the blockchain space.” Umberto Canessa Cerchi, Kryptomon Founder and CEO.

About Chainlink
Chainlink is the industry standard for building, accessing, and selling oracle services needed to power hybrid smart contracts on any blockchain. Chainlink oracle networks provide smart contracts with a way to reliably connect to any external API and leverage secure off-chain computations for enabling feature-rich applications. Chainlink currently secures tens of billions of dollars across DeFi, insurance, gaming, and other major industries, and offers global enterprises and leading data providers a universal gateway to all blockchains.
Breed, Train and Fight with your NFT Kryptomon. It’s a new world where trainers can live a new adventure on Blockchain.
Set in the Kryptomon metaverse, community members play as ‘Trainers’ of their own individual monsters — Kryptomons — each of which is a completely unique digital asset connected to an NFT. Each has a unique but mutable genetic code made up of 38 randomized parameters that determine all of the aspects — physical and behavioral — of the creature.
This not only ensures that each Kryptomon is unique but also brings to life each Kryptomon as a digital companion in the Kryptomon metaverse. They are capable of learning, falling sick, getting hungry, and protecting their trainers when out on an adventure in the physical world. In turn, trainers will have to care for, feed, and train their Kryptomon partners in order to grow and prepare for the battles ahead.
Kryptomon creates the next step in the evolution of crypto-gaming by using advanced blockchain technologies, digital genetics, and location-based technologies.
