Kryptomon — The Lore Challenge

Hello trainers, welcome back to the wonderful world of Kryptomon. We’ve seen a lot of really interesting things happen lately, with KMON staking coming online a few days ago on the 10th of September 2021, and our second Founder’s Talks session with Ari from Simplex dropping quite a few fascinating reveals. If you haven’t already, I highly suggest you check it out. (Give it a like, a subscribe, a comment maybe if you’re feeling psyched for the big reveals 😉)

Thanks to our amazing devs, the staking feature has received an update. You can now see an estimated number of tickets you can expect to receive per week, though it’s important to note that this is an estimate and makes the assumption that the amount of staked KMON remains constant in the entire week.

Today’s article is going to be something different. It’s just as important as our previous reveals of KMON staking or our partnership with Simplex, and is something that’s very close to my heart. Today, we’re going to be talking about lore.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

OMG YOU CAN WIN KRYPTOMON EGGS????

Now that I have your attention, yes you can indeed! But if you want to win you’ll have to read the rest of the article :)

Kryptomon is a huge endeavor, with many moving parts and priorities that get shifted around almost on a daily basis. We’ve got the tech side of things, the game, the KMON token, the many partnerships, articles to write for staking, the lotteries and marketing campaigns etc etc. Thankfully, we’ve got an amazing team that somehow manages to handle all of that work. But hidden underneath the endless tasks and to do lists, one aspect of Kryptomon has unfortunately had to be put aside for a while, Kryptomon’s lore.

The importance of a strong narrative supporting a game cannot be understated. Did you play Pokemon Yellow as a kid because Pikachu was such a strong Pokemon and you absolutely needed an electric mouse in your lineup?

No. In fact, Pikachu is a terrible starter because the average player would get absolutely rekt at Brock’s gym if you relied solely on Pikachu. 😂 No, we played Pokemon Yellow because we all wanted to be Ash, to be that trainer starting our journey in the wonderful world of Pokemon. To live out the anime where we also caught Caterpie and Pidgey and went on to win the Pokemon League that Ash couldn’t.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Discover the Kryptomon story… if you can 👀

Though the storyline has taken a backseat so far, all of that changes today! After plenty of brainstorming and more than a few sleepless nights, the Kryptomon story is finally taking shape and is something we’re very excited to share with the world… if you can decipher it. 😉

Starting the 21st of September 2021 we’ll be releasing a series of Koa’s Log articles, an insight into Professor Koa’s life as he discovers and first comes into contact with his own Kryptomon. The best part? In each one there will be a Lore Challenge, which will be YOUR chance to not only help Professor Koa solve the mystery of Kryptomon, but also become a Kryptomon trainer by winning a free Kryptomon egg!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

How the Lore Challenges Work

So far, only 5 pages of Koa’s Log have been discovered. You’ve already seen and read one, which gave you the link to the surveillance feed that Professor Koa is using to monitor all 10,000 Kryptomon eggs discovered so far.

Starting the 21st of September, we’ll reveal one additional page of Koa’s Log every week. For every single page, there are 2 ways in which you’ll be able to win an egg.

  • Solving the puzzle
  • Random lucky draw from Twitter

As mentioned above, every page revealed will come with 2 things — its own puzzle/challenge and a link to a tweet made by the official Kryptomon account specific to that week’s challenge. If you think you’ve found the solution to the puzzle, then head on over to the Google Form link mentioned in the article and submit your answer! This will require you to complete a series of tasks in order for your answer to be considered valid, which are to:

  • Like and retweet the official Kryptomon tweet linked in the article
  • Follow us on Twitter
  • Provide your Twitter handle, name and email so that we can contact you if you win
  • Enter your BSC wallet address
  • Submit an answer!
  • Explain how you got your answer!

It should go without saying, but if you submit the correct answer and in our checks we notice that you didn’t like/retweet the official Kryptomon tweet, your answer is disqualified and we’ll pick the winner from the remaining submitted answers. So don’t forget to complete all the tasks! 👍

3 Winners Every Challenge!

Hurry up though! There are 2 eggs available to be won every week via solving the puzzle. The first will be given to the FIRST person who completes the tasks and submits the correct answer.

The second egg will be a mini lottery reserved ONLY for people who’ve completed the tasks and solved the puzzle. Even if you aren’t the first person to solve the puzzle, there’s still merit in deciphering the correct answer and keeping it to yourself. Remember, the fewer people in the lottery, the higher your chances of winning! 😉

⭐ Be warned. We will NOT entertain any requests to have the winner’s egg sent to any other wallet address besides the one specified in the Google Form. This is to avoid potential scams where scammers recreate your Twitter profile and contact us in an attempt to have the egg sent to them instead.

We will ONLY send the winning egg to the wallet address specified in the Google Form. There are NO exceptions.

The third and final egg will be a random Twitter lottery! For everyone who’s liked and retweeted the tweet linked in that week’s Koa’s Log, you also stand a chance to win an egg for free. BUT! Here’s the thing, the random winner is only chosen when the puzzle is solved! If nobody can solve the puzzle, NO ONE gets an egg.

There is NO deadline for this.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if someone’s already solved the challenge for this week?
If someone has successfully solved the puzzle and submitted the correct answer to us, we’ll reveal the winner of the challenge and the winner of the lottery in next week’s Koa’s Log.

However, it’s very possible that next week’s Koa’s Log doesn’t come with a winner, in which case you’ll know that the puzzle hasn’t been solved yet and you can still submit your answer!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Can I win multiple times?
Of course! We’re certainly not going to restrict or punish our trainers for being creative or smart. If you’re the first to solve the puzzle in Week 1 and win the egg, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t attempt to solve the puzzle in Week 2.

Heck, if you’re really lucky, you could potentially even win all 3 eggs in the same week if you’re the first to solve the puzzle + win both the random Twitter and random Puzzle lottery eggs!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

How many answers can I submit?
As many as you’d like! The forms have been changed so that they don’t accept editing anymore, but feel free to submit as many answers as you want to. There is no limit. 👍

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Closing Statement

The Kryptomon story is one that is ever evolving as we learn something new about Kryptomon every day. Do you have a suggestion for how the story could turn out? Fancy yourself a world builder? Only 5 pages of Koa’s Log have been found so far, why not help us find more? There’s still so much more about Kryptomon that we don’t know yet and those mysteries are just waiting to be discovered!

If you have an idea you’d like to share, pop on over to our Discord channel and leave your idea in the #lore channel. Our resident world builder Carter is always watching and happy to have a chat about anything lore related. 😎

Now that we covered the lore, it’s time to play and earn some living NFTs. See you in-game, fellow trainers.

Kryptomon — A Marketplace Update

Hello trainers, welcome back to the wonderful world of Kryptomon. Hopefully the new Lore Challenges announced earlier this week has gotten everyone excited about helping Professor Koa solve the mystery of how Kryptomons came to be. If you haven’t already, make sure you check out the article soon or risk losing out on the chance to win your very own Kryptomon egg!

While our resident world builder Carter has been busy helping Professor Koa discover the origins of all Kryptomon, the rest of the team haven’t been idle either! Today, we’ll dive into a topic that the the community has asked for on many occasions — Our Kryptomon Marketplace!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

The Kryptomon Marketplace

You’ve asked for it, theorized it might happen, seen teaser images from the team but today we’re excited to finally announce, yes our very own Kryptomon marketplace is being built!

Now everyone calm down. The key thing to note is that I said “is being built”, which implies that work for the marketplace is still ongoing and we are not in any place to release the marketplace just yet. Building our very own marketplace is huge endeavor and with something that will be handling tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, we would much rather take the time to get it right.

We don’t have an approximate time for a launch just yet, but we’ll be releasing another announcement once we do. For now, just know that the safety and security of your funds and Kryptomon eggs are our top priority. We’ll triple check everything looks solid before even considering a launch.

With that out of the way, let’s get down to the more interesting details. What features will we be implementing to make your lives a little easier?

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Marketplace Features

Buy and Sell with KMON and BNB

Upon launch, the marketplace will allow trades in both KMON and BNB. In the future, we might consider rolling out support for trading in more cryptocurrencies but the main marketplace currency will always be KMON.

To encourage the use of KMON (more use cases for KMON!), the marketplace will be released with an additional feature where trainers will receive a discount on the trading fees if completing the trade in KMON.

Why pay more than you have to? Use KMON!

Detailed… Detail Page

A common piece of feedback we received from many of our trainers currently buying and selling on Mochi Market was the fact that not all information about the eggs was displayed on the website. Trainers would often need to look through Bscscan before making a decision to buy a specific egg, which can be a hassle.

To rectify that, we’ve designed a brand new detail page packed full with all the data you might want to know about a particular Kryptomon so that you can make an informed choice before buying.

Draft of the Marketplace’s Detail Page

Not only will you be able to easily see the breakdown of the Kryptomon’s elemental and physical traits, we’ve also included a trade history and price chart function for all you traders and breeders out there. This will give you an understanding of the demand in the market and will help inform your decision on which Kryptomons to buy and keep or breed.

For example: You’ll now be able to easily understand the sale history of the Kryptomon and thus infer which Kryptomons are “more liquid” (large volume of trading history suggests that many people are willing to buy a particular Kryptomon) or “more stable” (consistent sale prices would suggest that the Kryptomon has genes that everyone is looking for, while drastically varying sale prices would indicate speculation or trends in future battle “metas”)

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Transfer Eggs For Free

A large barrier to entry is the current inability to transfer Kryptomons between wallets. Let’s assume that you’ve convinced a friend to give Kryptomon a go and you’d like to give him one of your Kryptomons to start him off.

At the moment the only way of doing this is for you to sell him your Kryptomon on Mochi Market for a high price (so that no one else snaps it up immediately) and then return to your friend the funds used to “buy” your Kryptomon. Not only do you have to pay gas fees for 2 separate transactions, you also pay a fee to Mochi Market for buying an egg.

To curb this, egg transfers between friends or people you trust in the future will be free while using the Kryptomon market. You’ll still have to pay gas fees once (since those go to the BSC and isn’t something we can control) but it’ll be a much more streamlined process compared to what it is now.

The problem described above is not specific to Kryptomons, but rather NFTs in general! Our amazing devs have identified this pain point in the market and that’s why we’re also considering extending this trade functionality to non Kryptomon based NFT trades while on the Kryptomon marketplace. Whether or not it’ll be completely free… is a decision we have yet to make.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Search And Bid On Kryptomons

At the moment on Mochi Market, the only eggs you see are those that other trainers have made available for sale. But what if you’re looking for a very specific combination of physical and elemental genes and can’t find it on the market?

With the Kryptomon market, we wanted to make it such that trainers could find any Kryptomon/Kryptomon egg when using the filters, even if that Kryptomon wasn’t available for sale. Trainers will be able to place a bid on the Kryptomon they have their eye on, and it’ll then be up to the owner to decide if he wants to accept or reject that bid.

Note that being able to search for all Kryptomons using specific filters and see if they’re available for sale also gives the ability for interested breeders and traders to quickly determine where there might be an oversupply of a particular type of Kryptomon, or where there is low supply but high demand. 😉 This will once again act as a signal for breeders to determine what type of Kryptomons they should breed and sell.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Why Build Our Own Marketplace

“That’s a lot of work! Why not focus on the game instead of building a completely separate marketplace instead of just using Mochi?”, is what some of our trainers might be wondering. It’s a very valid question!

There are various benefits to having our own marketplace instead of being completely reliant on our partners. We won’t list every benefit here (as that’d take far too long) but here are the 2 main reasons.

A higher degree of control

Having our own marketplace gives us the freedom to make our own decisions and build features that will benefit our community. Community feedback is now easier to deal with and implement since we can make changes after a community vote instead of having to wait for and rely on partners who might have to consider the needs and wants of all the different other communities that they partner with.

Independence also means controlling our own fate. What if one day Mochi Market is taken offline for a few hours? Or if we needed a specific piece of functionality ASAP but we’re unable to reach the Mochi team for some reason? There will be absolutely nothing that we can do on our end to help Mochi rectify the issue so the Kryptomon team would be just as worried and in the dark as all of our trainers if we didn’t have our own marketplace.

Keeping funds within the community

Not only will we be able to give KMON an extra use case, but when you buy or sell Kryptomons on the Kryptomon marketplace, the fee you pay will stay within the Kryptomon community.

Every trade you make indirectly supports the game development, our ability to host giveaways/competitions like the Lore Challenge for our community and potentially even getting Umberto a semi decent microphone so that he can do Founder Talk sessions a little better! (a little inside joke for all of those who turn up to the Founder Talk sessions 😂)

We’ll also offer a lower fee when trading on the Kryptomon marketplace, so if you didn’t care about everything above, this reason alone should suffice. After all, why would you choose to pay more when you didn’t have to?

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Closing Thoughts

Building our own marketplace is a lot of work, both upfront and to maintain in the future. Even so, the benefits far outweigh the negatives and we hope that you’ll see this (like we do!) as a worthwhile investment into Kryptomon’s future.

In addition, having our own marketplace does not mean we’ll be neglecting our partnership with Mochi Market. They’ll continue to work with us and trainers will still be able to buy and sell Kryptomons on their platform if you choose to do so!

A final request for our trainers before signing off today. You’ve been using the Mochi Market interface for a while now? What are YOUR thoughts on the system and what do you think is done well and could be done better? Are there any specific filters that you think could be implemented to make your life easier? Let us know on our social media channels! Help us make Kryptomon the best NFT blockchain gaming experience it can be!

See you in game, fellow trainer.

Kryptomon — Koa’s Log #2

Day #79 after the incident

There’s a pattern!

There’s no conclusive evidence that the pattern means anything, but after the baffling results from the preliminary tests on the eggs several days ago, this finally feels like I might be on to something.

Since setting up the lab and the surveillance footage a week ago, the eggs have been monitored 24/7 but the initial results have been disappointing so far.

An Update on Eggs

The preliminary tests proved that the eggs aren’t made up of any known substance from Earth. I did find traces of calcium and carbon but some of the eggs are practically on fire! At these temperatures a regular egg shell should be vaporized but these “flaming eggs” seem to have no problem maintaining their structural integrity.

A “flaming egg”

No, it was clear that I’d have to come up with a different angle of attack. Instead of expecting the eggs to behave like something from Earth, I went back to the basics and attempted to classify the eggs based on their physical characteristics. Take the flaming eggs for example, if I made the assumption that all eggs with a temperature of above 100 °C were “flaming eggs” while any egg that had a small electromagnetic field surrounding it was a “magnetic egg” then there are 32 “types” of different eggs.

While this has allowed me to classify the eggs somewhat, it still hasn’t explained how all of this is even possible. Not a single material on Earth can explain how all eggs belonging to the “immaterial egg” type can occasionally blur and allow things to pass through it?

I wonder if I’m on the wrong track. There must be something that I’m still missing, a crucial logic step that would help me unlock the mystery of these eggs.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

A Geographical Pattern

Temporarily stumped on the egg front, I turned to the reports and photos the scout team sent back from when they picked up the eggs. While they were all found in the same approximate area, the reports showed that the eggs were found in small batches scattered around the area instead of just a pile of 10,000 eggs.

Overall the average batch contained approximately 13 eggs, though it’s not yet clear if there is any significance to this number. But! While our scouts didn’t think much of it at the time, there is an undeniable pattern to the number of eggs that were found in each batch.

I re-ordered the excavation logs based on geographical location instead of the order in which they were discovered, and lo and behold, a pattern with the number of eggs retrieved per batch emerged. Batch #1 had 20 eggs, followed by only 1 egg in batch #2 and 4 in batch #3. 18 batches later, this would eventually repeat, over and over again.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

The exact pattern is:

20–1–4–23–5–23–20–4–21–17–11–26–17–4–12–10–13–6

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

So far, it’s still just a mass of seemingly random numbers. Tomorrow I’ve requisitioned the use of a supercomputer to start running some simulations and I’m hopeful that there is a meaning to the pattern, instead of it just being a coincidence.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

-End of Entry 79 in Koa’s Diary-

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

⭐Lore Challenge #1! ⭐

Kryptomon’s first Lore Challenge begins with Professor Koa hard at work in the lab. He’s discovered some clues about the eggs that were recently found but will need some help deciphering the mystery behind the random egg batch numbers! Can YOU figure it out before the supercomputer does?

For those who are up for the challenge, like, retweet and comment on the tweet accompanying this lore piece and let us know your answer! 😉

Rules Reminder

Remember that you will need to complete a series of tasks in order for your answer to be considered valid, which are to:

  • Like and retweet the official Kryptomon tweet linked above
  • Provide your Twitter handle, name and email so that we can contact you if you win
  • Enter your BSC wallet address
  • Submit an answer!

It should go without saying, but if you submit the correct answer and in our checks we notice that you didn’t like/retweet the official Kryptomon tweet, your answer is disqualified and we’ll pick the winner from the remaining submitted answers. So don’t forget to complete all the tasks! 👍

The full set of rules and a more detailed explanation of how Lore Challenges work can be found here in this article.

Good luck trainers! 😉

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

23/9/2021 — Update!

The community has spoken! 64% of the community have voted for a clue to be released in order to hasten the solving of our first ever Lore Challenge. So…

Back in Professor Koa’s Lab

After a hair wrenching 2 days filled with scientists and lab interns who have lost sleep over trying to beat the supercomputer to the answer, it seems that Professor Koa has managed to deduce a clue about the egg batch pattern numbers. What if there is no 1 solution that will instantly provide an answer? What if the numbers are encoded with multiple layers of protection such that the application of one solution, leads to an answer or a string of random letters / numbers that… aren’t actually random? 😉

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Message From Carter

PS: To answer one of the questions I promised to answer, sort of as a Clue #2 freebie for you guys. I can confirm that knowledge of Kryptomon is necessary in order to solve this puzzle. All your Oxford rocket scientist friends are going to have to read up on Kryptomon if they want to solve it. :)

Kryptomon — The KMON-BNB Liquidity Mining Campaign

Hello trainers, welcome back to the wonderful world of Kryptomon. It must have been a busy week for everyone in the community, not only with trainers having to work together in order to figure out the first of Professor Koa’s Lore Challenges, but also doing plenty of math trying to figure out what your chances are at winning a prize in the second of our Staking Lottery prizes!

If you thought we were done, think again! Not only do you have the second Lore Challenge to test your wits against today, the Kryptomon community is about to get even busier with the launch of our KMON-BNB staking pool!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

A New Partner — DODO

For the trainers who follow our social media channels, this should come as no surprise to you. We’ve previously released information regarding our talks with DODO and we’re now excited to announce that we’ll be joining the DODO’s Booster Program starting the 29th of September 2021!

While staking your KMON for a chance to win a Kryptomon egg is a great deal (who doesn’t want an egg?), we can also appreciate that some in our community might prefer the option to have their returns in the form of additional KMON tokens. With the new KMON-BNB Liquidity Mining Campaign, you can do precisely that! Even better, trainers who participate will be rewarded both in KMON AND DODO tokens!

I’m convinced! What do I need to do?

Participating is easy. Simply pop on over to DODO and provide KMON-BNB liquidity to receive DLP (Dodo LP) tokens. Trainers who stake these DLP tokens on the DODO website will then start to receive both KMON and DODO tokens as rewards, which are known as the “Liquidity Mining rewards”.

The best part is, the amount of Liquidity Mining rewards available every week will be readjusted higher or lower depending on the volume of trading activity that happens, up to a maximum of $45,000 worth of DODO and 225,000 KMON tokens!

Do note though, that DODO only takes into account the trading volume for KMON-BNB that occurs on the DODO platform and does not include any trades made on PancakeSwap.

While the Kryptomon team will provide a fixed 225,000 KMON tokens every week to be earnt by trainers who participate in this program, the amount of DODO tokens provided to the pool will be determined by the following:

  • If the total trading volume of the current week is no greater than $5,000,000, the reward value for the next week will be capped at $7,500 worth of DODO tokens.
  • If the total trading volume of the current week is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000, the reward value for the next week will be capped at $15,000 worth of DODO tokens.
  • If the total trading volume of the current week is between $10,000,000 and $15,000,000, the reward value for the next week will be capped at $30,000 worth of DODO tokens.
  • If the total trading volume of the current week is greater than or equal to $15,000,000, the reward cap for the next week will be capped at $45,000 worth of DODO tokens.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

But how do I provide liquidity? How do I stake these DLP tokens?

Before you begin, make sure you have equal amounts (in dollar value) of WBNB and KMON. That means that if you want to stake $1000 worth of KMON, you’ll need to also have $1000 worth of BNB to participate in the liquidity pool.

Ready? Let’s break it down into a few simple steps:

Picture A

  • Pop on over to DODO and connect your wallet with the “Connect to a wallet” button on the top right hand corner of your screen.
  • Select the “Liquidity” option under the “Earn” tab, which should then bring up a screen much like the one in Picture A.
  • In the search bar under the “Create Pools” button, find our KMON-BNB liquidity pool contract by entering the following address
    0x9bb6c68ae502193d396b2b93f007d54595d88d1d
  • Once you see the WBNB/KMON liquidity pool, hit the bright yellow “Add Liquidity” button to bring up the following screen.

Picture B

  • Choose how much KMON or BNB you’d like to add to the liquidity pool. Remember that you must deposit equal amounts (in dollar value) of both tokens.

Just like with the staking lottery contract, you’ll need to first “approve” the spending of your tokens. That means one transaction to approve the spending of your KMON, a second one to approve the spending of your WBNB and a final one to actually add liquidity. So don’t be surprised if you have to approve 3 different transactions.

  • One the liquidity has been provided, you’ll receive DLP tokens in return. These act as sort of a “receipt” that you’ve provided liquidity.

These DLP tokens don’t necessarily have to be a 1 to 1 relationship, so while you might have provided 10 BNB worth of KMON and BNB, you might not receive 10 DLP tokens. Don’t worry, this is normal and the DLP tokens you now hold are definitely still worth the 10 BNB worth of KMON and BNB that you provided.

  • The final step! Under the Earn tab, select “Mining” this time and you should be able to see the KMON-BNB Liquidity Mining section (as in Picture C) once the program goes live on the 29th of September 2021. Simply hit the “Stake” button, approve the transactions on your wallet and you’re done!

What now?

That’s it! Sit back, relax and let your liquidity work for you by earning KMON and DODO tokens. After the 4 week program, you’ll be able to remove your liquidity from the DODO platform by following almost the exact same process in reverse.

Simply unstake the DLP tokens from the “Mining” page. These DLP tokens act as your receipt so pop back over to the “Liquidity” page and exchange the DLP tokens for your BNB and KMON!

This does NOT mean that your LP tokens will be locked. There is no lock period and you’re free to unstake your LP tokens with the additional rewards you gained and exchange them for BNB and KMON at any time, though after the 4 week program, there will no longer be a liquidity mining campaign that pays our DODO and KMON in exchange for your KMON-BNB liquidity.

Please also do note that providing liquidity opens you up to the possibility of impermanent loss. If you’ve never heard of the term, make sure you DYOR before jumping into this.
